Words are a massive part of my life, in every way, sometimes there are words that hit home, that make you laugh, cry and that push you forward. They inspire your life help you when you are down and help you express the happiness you feel at the best of times.
Sometime some words just resonate with you and these are the top five movie quotes that have inspired me;
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there – fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge – they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
This always resonates with me - I love this movie its my idealised vision of London and how life is. It's simple, beautiful and relatable and right now I do kind of wish Hugh Grant was our Prime Minister!
I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
There's something so truthful in Samwise words, he's ring in that the stories we are told as children, the fairytales (the originals) were full of danger, action, fear, courage and hope. Even now as adults we all hear/read stories and have experiences which we close the page on because we are afraid and we don't see the way forward but there will always be a dawn to the longest night.
You know when I said I knew little about love? That wasn't true. I know a lot about love. I've seen it, centuries and centuries of it, and it was the only thing that made watching your world bearable. All those wars. Pain, lies, hate... It made me want to turn away and never look down again. But when I see the way that mankind loves... You could search to the furthest reaches of the universe and never find anything more beautiful. So yes, I know that love is unconditional. But I also know that it can be unpredictable, unexpected, uncontrollable, unbearable and strangely easy to mistake for loathing, and... What I'm trying to say, Tristan is... I think I love you. Is this love, Tristan? I never imagined I'd know it for myself. My heart... It feels like my chest can barely contain it. Like it's trying to escape because it doesn't belong to me any more. It belongs to you. And if you wanted it, I'd wish for nothing in exchange - no gifts. No goods. No demonstrations of devotion. Nothing but knowing you loved me too. Just your heart, in exchange for mine.
Three simple words - I love you - the explanations of which are infinite and truly beautiful

1. Love Actually - The Prime Minister
2. White Christmas - General Thomas F Waverly
"I am not satisfied with the conduct of this division. Some of you men are under the impression having been at Anzio entitles you not to wear neckties. Well you're wrong. Neckties will be worn in this area! And look at the rest of your appearance. You're a disgrace to the outfit. You're soft! You're sloppy! You're unruly! You're undisciplined! And I never saw anything look so wonderful in my whole life! Thank you all."
This moment in White Christmas always makes me well up, the acts of kindness and support his troops show him is admirable and I like to think that then and now every soldier who struggles on leaving the uniform no matter which one is still loved and supported by all those around to help them in times of need and show them that what they have done is appreciated and reciprocated and that they are never forgotten.
3. Cinderella - Cinderella's mother
"I want to tell you a secret that will see you through all the trials that life can offer, have courage and be kind"
There is a propensity in life to see all the bad things, we see so many horrors reported on TV, in the news that we tend to focus on all that is wrong with the world. But sometimes, just sometimes the smallest act of kindness can bring the greatest reward, it just takes a little bit of courage to be the change you want to see
4. Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers - Samwise Gamgee
I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. 5. Stardust - Yvaine
